Guest Designer - Mixed Media Place

Mixed Media Altered Door

Hello Friends..

Hope you all are enjoying lovely summers and having a good time.
I am here today with a project I Guest Designed for Mixed Media Place, inspired by their July Challenge Moodboard. It's been a wonderful opportunity.

The July moodboard is so fascinating, full of beautiful summery colours. I have altered a wooden door, one of the lovely designs from Woodouts. I wanted to use all the colours from the moodboard on this project.

I have used mediums, paint, waxes and spray from Finnabair and Lindy's. Those gorgeous pieces of chippies are from 2 Crafty Chipboard and flowers from Prima Marketing. I tried to give a mystic touch to this door with that word sticker from 7 Dots Studio. I love adding layers and small bits and details to all my Mixed Media Projects and I am happy with the result I achieved here in this project.

Hope You liked the project and got inspired!!

Hugs

Altered Star - Woodouts!

Altered Star - Woodouts!

Hello Friends..

I am back here to inspire you all with this super simple home decor project with one of my favourite bases from Woodouts!

For this project, I honestly had no clue as what to do.. I'm in the midst of shifting to another house, packing is on and mess all over. So you know I wasn't prepared to work hard on my imagination and take time to sit and think more on altering this beautiful thick STAR shape from Woodouts
My art table is mostly occupied with Finnabair's paints and mediums and some quick embellishments that include a small jar full of buttons. So I just started to assemble those buttons randomly and in a scattered way until I was happy with the arrangement.
Once the buttons dried, I grabbed the jar of Finnabair's black gesso and covered it all.

Next comes adding the colour. When I picked up this star shape to alter, what came to my mind was my son's room in the new house we are moving to. I decided to stick to blue and white tones and chose Finnabair's "Royal blue" in Metallique Acrylic range.

After I was happy with the colour spread (I used water spray and baby wipes a lot), I moved on with Finnabair's waxes in "Mystic Turquoise" and "Old Silver". Added highlights with my fingers mostly. For the Typo Bulb, I used wax in "vintage gold".
And that's all of it!

So imagination can be quick and can strike in the right way at the right time. It can surprise you sometimes even in the oddest of times and surroundings.
All you have to do is - Trust Yourself!

Hope you liked this post and got inspired!

Art Journal page "Imagination" for Crafty Chipboard

Art Journal Page
"Imagination"

Hello Friends..

I'm here to inspire you with a simple and art journal page this time using beautiful chipboard pieces from 2Crafty and products from Lindy's Gang.
Whenever I feel like rejuvenating my mind, I do an art journal page.

I was inspired by the new Lindy's colour challenge and created this page in the same palette.
I started off using Lindy's Starbust in "icy primrose gold" on the base, followed by some background stamping.

For this page, I used leafy shrub set and beautiful birdcage chippies.
For the Leafy shrub set, I applied white gesso first and then colored them with one of Lindy's magicals in "Aloha avocado". After that I added some highlights of Finnabair's wax in "Mystic Turquoise".

For the Birdcage, I simply applied Finnabair's wax in Vintage gold which gave it the perfect antique look that I wanted.

I loved the outcome on the chipboard pieces and how they added life to the page in no time. They did perfectly fit with the overall theme of this page.

"Thankful" - Mixed Media Layout for 2Crafty Chipboard

Mixed Media Layout
"Thankful"

Hello Friends..

I am back on 2Crafty blog to inspire again with a Mixed Media Layout this time using some of the lovely chipboard pieces from 2Crafty and other mixed media supplies.

For this Layout, I chose to go with blue and brown/rust colour theme and used Lindy's startbust in "Sassy Sapphire" to colour the background.
Moving on to the chippies, for the Frame Viney Circle and Element set, I applied Finabair's wax in "Firebird". It gave a beautiful antique finish to the element pieces especially.

For the script title, I applied Finnabair's art alchemy sparks paint in "unicorn's hair" which my most favourite in that range. Then I added some bit of highlights with the wax.
I used flowers from Prima "Midnight Garden" collection and to match with the cluster, I painted some leaves in watercolour and fussy cut them. They were fitted so perfectly.

May Inspiration "ART" for 2Crafty Chipboard

Mixed Media Frame

"ART"

Hi friends..

Back on 2Crafty Chipboard to share my inspiration for this month. I altered a wooden circular Frame  in Mixed Media as a beautiful home decor piece, using some of the gorgeous chipboard pieces from 2Crafty.

Creating textures is one of my favourites in mixed media.
Here on this frame, I did a lot of crackle effect.
The frame is from Woodouts, it was in two parts - a ring and a circular panel that I glued together to use it as a frame.
I started off with Finnabair's heavy white gesso all over the base, followed by a generous amount of crackle effect paste. I left it to dry on its own for a few hours. Drying crackle paste in the air gives better results than using heat tool.

I have used three different designs of chippies here, colouring them using Finnabair's acrylic paints.
For the Berry Wines chippies, I have applied the colour "Golden Moss". I love this colour and you will find it in most of my projects.
I applied Finnabair's acrylic sparks in "unicorn's hair" to the corner flourishes and the vintage frame that I've cut in half and used on the picture. This colour gave a lovely shine to the chippies.
Tip: Use a small piece of sponge to apply colour to the chippies for a textured finish.

Next, I arranged the elements, focusing on designing mainly on one side and minimally on the other. I created layers with chippies, some leftover pieces of clay embellishments, metal pieces, old brushes, paper blooms and a sticker photo from Finnabair's words you need - Art Daily Sticker Pad.

To add some colour, I used Finnabair's Acrylic paint in "Romance Pink". I was inspired by the moodboard of Mixed Media place current challenge to use this particular colour in my project.
I loved the outcome with this colour.
I then added some finishing touches all over with Finnabair's waxes in "vintage gold" and "mystic turquoise".
And finally, some Finnabair's vintage Art pebbles and art stones and some pink micro beads.
