Mixed Media Frame

Hi... I am just having a cozy time this Friday.. it's cold outside.. also raining every then and now.
Created this small Finnabair inspired frame with some minimal arrangement of metal, resin and other embellishments, and played with Finnabair art alchemy metallic paints. They are so luscious, fluid and amazing to work with.

I loved every bit of working on this project including the black gesso coverage part!! Couple of detailed pictures..

I hope to come up with more of finnabair inspired projects using different colors and textures.
With this project, I enter to Mixed Media and Art April Challenge. Drawing inspiration from the beautiful moodboard, I chose to go with black and green.

Hope you enjoyed the post.. see you again.. Have a lovely weekend!!

Mixed Media Canvas

"Love Is All"

Hi there..
Back again with this week's project.
The weather in UK is like so unpredictable.. sun today, may be rain tomorrow. But whatever it is, the spring colors are showing beautifully out there. I am loving the greens and the tulips!!
So coming back to my project today, it's a 12*16 mixed media canvase with lots of watercolors, flowers and Love😊

I have actually altered an old canvas here as you can see the background is layered. Have also given some torn details. I covered it slightly with gesso and played with my watercolors and stencil from TCW. Inspired by Mixed Media Place and Dusty Attic April moodboards, I picked up green, browns and blue, and realised that this can be just a fabulous combination of colors. Love it!!
Here are some detailed pictures:

I used chipboard from Dusty Attic and some gorgeous flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts. Love them!!

12*12 Layout

"Dream Big Little One"

Hi there..
Today I share a layout created for my boy. This picture of Jibraan dates back when he was 1 and now he'll be 5 in June 2017.

Not many products, just watercolor, gesso and paper elements. I wanted to keep it minimal. It's black and white with 1 color option as per the theme of More Than Words April Challenge. I chose orange as that's Jibraan's favorite color. I did some doodling this time and loved the tiny hearts.

That's all for today!!

Scrapbook Layout

Freedom

Hello Friends,
This Easter break I had a few regular visits to the park with my little boy, and it's so lovely to see the spring flowers, especially the variety of tulips and cherry blossoms.. that's amazing. I could spend hours there admiring such beauty of nature. The colors have been so inspiring.
Coming back to my layout.. it's colorful and full of life.. It's about freedom, fearlessness and the joy of living.

I chose this colorful paper from theworks store. I prepared the background with a checkered stencil from tcw and some stamping using buttefly stamps from theworks and messy script from Finnabair. Next I used some Lindy's magicals and white gesso to add up some coloring and splashes.
There are enough layers I created with the papers and tags from my stash. Added lots of die cut butterflies and feather die cuts.
I half framed my picture with a resin frame and added blings, glitter and beads. I ended up with adding some theme words. Happy with the outcome, I stopped!!
Here are some detailed pictures.

Mixed Media Mini Canvas

"Loving what you do"

The key to "Being Yourself" in my case is ART.. and of course, for every artist/art lover it is the same. There goes my entry for Finnabair Designer's Faves Challenge with Sanda, the theme for which is "keyhole/heart" and the color combination being Teal/Red.

An interesting combination to work with, though quite an unusual one. I chose to work on a mini canvas this time. Started of with some stenciling in the background. I chose to glue a couple of old art brushes. The best part on this canvas is my own handcrafted embellishments, the wing and the heart. Yes, I am a clay artist too, so I took the advantage of that and saved on some pounds.. :)
Moving on to the details, I used basic acrylic paints to color my flowers and my favorite product from Finnabair, art alchemy wax for adding a vintage look to my project. I loved how my embellishments  turned out after applying the wax. I added some metal charms too. I was glad to have one from Finnabair with the word "ART". For a final touch, some art stones, glitter and micro beads. That's it!!
There goes the Challenge Banner:

Altered Box

Everything old is new again

Hello Friends..
Time for a new post.. new art.. and today it's one more altered box. And this one goes for an entry in Berry71Bleu April moodboard which is all about "Everything old is new again". Here is the moodboard:

I instantly got inspired by this moodboard as I am always fascinated by old and rusty things.
For my box, I drew inspiration from the first picture. Loved the shade of teal/turquoise and decided to go on with the same tone.

So coming on to the details.. I coated my box with gesso and added some texture with stencil and modelling paste. Believe me, adding the texture is the best part of any mixed media project.
I moved on with adding flowers, embellishments and some more texture with finnabair art stones. To make everything come together, I applied gesso to all of the flowers and embellishments. Once everything dried well, I colored the box with distress spray stains. Baby wipes helped me a lot untill I got the desired shading. I added some finnabair micro beads as a final touch.
Making altered art is so much fun. I enjoyed every bit of it. I hope it has inspired you too.
Thank you so much for stopping by.
Have a wonderful day!!

ALTERED BOX

Hello Friends..

Summers are almost here and it's good to have cool tones around. I love the moodboard for Mixed Media World March Challenge with lots of blue and white.

There goes my entry for this challenge.. an altered wooden box. I drew inspiration from the colors in this moodboard and decided to go ahead with blue, white and a hint of red too.
Coming on to the project details.. I gave the texture to my box with laces and lots of gesso. Just a couple of flowers, somehow flowers add life to a project I feel. I loved the frosted red berries in the moodboard and decided to perk up the overall look of the box with some red pollens. I used some art stones and a resin butterfly from Finnabair. I added a touch of gold to my butterfly with Finnabair art alchemy wax in white gold. I love those waxes and the amazing ways which they can be used in any project. As a final touch, I added some distress glitter in "pumice stone" and some micro beads.
That's it!!

Hope you had a good time reading this post.. Thank you so much for stopping by.
Have great day!!
